Friday the 13th

“I’m so happy ’cause today I found my friends, they’re in my head / I’m so ugly, but that’s OK ’cause so are you.”
-Nirvana, Lithium

Today

The Lions Gate Bridge was closed

Someone is wanting to jump, they murmured

Hundreds of people rerouted

For one soul to step back from the ledge

And continue to breathe

The stale air

That we recycle

Don’t free fall

Free roam this planet

For it is our home

To wander

Until we all die

And dwell in nothingness

Or perhaps in something

But won’t you please stay

And wander with us?

If you were to jump off of a bridge, thousands of people would take detour for hours and wait in big lines so that you step back safely to the solid ground. Because they care, we care, and I care. I would gladly wait two hours to go to work every single day, if that means your life continues to bloom and flower. Please don’t give in to the fear of this unknown cloud that renders our will hopeless (it’s hard, I know, I’ve been there). We want you to stay and play with us this game called life.
