“Enjoy life while you can. It can be taken in a heart beat.”

I wrote the following a few years ago, after the devastating news of a young friend (of only 19) rendered brain-dead after an accident. His organs were donated. He saved many lives, he was no rube.

Life is not always kind enough to be a journey
Or to let you do your share
To live, laugh, and feel
Life can be cruelly short
Just enough to let you care, be loved
And have a spot for all the laughs in the world
To cocoon your departure
I hope every life that young soul saved is filled with laughter, feelings
And simply life
Amazing!!!! A really beautiful poem. So sorry you lost your friend.
Thanks Patty <3
Of course I would love this. The first line is so painfully perfect. It inspires me. It begs to asks a million questions. I too lost a friend in an acvident at 19. I wonder if it were cruel for him or only for me? The memory is still so crushing after all these years but is it all Perspective? Who knows?

I am so sorry for your friend who passed away, truly too young to leave the world.. but wonderfully generous to help save others as well.. it is lovely that you commemorated them also in this post
