Things I miss

β€œNature is not a place to visit. It is home.”

― Gary Snyder

I miss Victoria, the city.

I miss how everything was fresh with a hint of morning dew and lingering raindrops

I miss the beaches that overlooked an unending blue

I miss the still night sky, stars winking, wrapped in a black blanket

I miss the deer strutting on the pavement

So unnaturally natural

I miss the spiking joy of spotting a wandering bunny

I miss the swirl of hot colours spoiling the ocean as the sun slipped away

I miss being at mile zero

The beginning and the end

The hushed race

The tranquil being

I miss it all

I invite you to assay too, is there a place that you miss dearly?

  1. Sorry you’re missing Victoria. Lovely place. My friend from Victoria is here with me visiting and I do the same. Oh those deers and bunny rabbits and arbutus tree

  2. I’ve been here in the east since august, but I’ve been away from the lower mainland since may. I miss my friends.

Endless summer days with coffee and eggs and skateboarding and beers and music and laughing.
Deep forest dives and mountain climbs.
Train rides and random train conversation.
Green forest giants like ancient gods.
Liquid air you can almost drink.
    Yep.
    Yep.

    1. ahhhhh this all takes me back and makes me miss the island even more. So beautifully said. You tweaked these words right out of my brain.

Luckily, I am still on the west coast, but this big city is so much figuratively colder than Victoria.

Hope you can visit the coast and your friends again soon.
