“I needed something–the distraction of another life–to alleviate fear.”
― Bret Easton Ellis, Lunar Park
Here is an edited page from my journal about social media. Of course, this is my subjective experience at this point in time, talking to myself:
Looking at curated stilled moments of fluid lives, trying to avoid something.
Maybe a feeling, a thought, a sensation, a truth. Beating your senses, senseless.
Your grip on a fabricated reality that is not even yours.
How long will you go on, dismissing the person that lies inside of you.
She wants to be seen by you.
Yes, by you.
Don’t search for her scrolling. Or in the smile of strangers.
She is not there. Nobody is there.
It’s a grid of illusions. That comes together with good intentions of everyone trying to find themselves in the thumbs of others.
How do you (currently) feel about social media?
