typo

“One piece of wisdom a writer quickly learns ~ typos keep you humble.”
― E.A. Bucchianeri

it appears

without a warning

without a sign

it is the colour of all the other words

hiding from my eyes

it reveals

the imperfection for a stranger’s eyes

i blush

dislodging sweaty thoughts

warm palms

nails digging into the oblivion

how did this happen

i left a typo

naked

in the middle of the page

now it mocks me

haunting the words that stream down my fingertips

shame combines itself into doubt

churning up a solution of self-deprecation

a typographical error

creeps into a creation of mine

cuts down my roots

in reality

so i call it a typo

for i might

be clumsy

typing

typographical

what are your thoughts and feelings on typos?

  1. HI Em! I’ve missed you, I hope you’re doing well! I’m fortunate in that the only place typos plague me is in text messages, and it appears that’s a universal problem, so I don’t let it get to me. Much.

    1. Hi Denny, I’ve missed you and the blogging community, I started a journaling series to post more hopefully.
I was working on some exciting projects in the background while I was kinda absent, it may or may not be a poetic narrative non-fiction book!

      1. Hi Em! We’ve missed you too! That sounds intriguing, and I’m happy for you. Headed over to see what you’ve been up to right now…

        1. I’m excited about this project, I will share as soon as it gets a life of its own!

  2. I hate typos, and, sadly, I make my “fair share” of them.

    1. I think we all get a share the moment we are born as writers :))

  3. When I am reading my work, I am the ultimate grammar police office. Since I edit the work of others, I am constantly looking out for typos. They make me uneasy, but I am also learning that I should not give too much energy to things that aren’t death-provoking. I love this!

    1. I envy your attention to detail, it is one of my shortcomings, but as you said trying to not take it too seriously!
