“I am out with lanterns, looking for myself.”
― Emily Dickinson
—
they are not you
my therapist says
okay
i say
nodding a lie
i don’t know what she means
ever feel like there is three of you
roaming in a tight skull
dismantling every thought
all of them denying the ownership
where do thoughts come from
if none of me gave birth
they occur to you
Eckhart says
let go
why does it feel like i am discarding myself
did this poem occur to me
or conjured from deep within
where thoughts can’t go?
where do thoughts come from
i may never know
—
where do you think thoughts come from?

A poem to make me think!
Thoughts are always part of me; even to stop thinking, I have to think. 🙂
Beautiful and thought-provoking! Love the first few lines.
I love this poem! Thoughts… yeah, where do they come from? Do thoughts come from desires? What causes competing thoughts? If you choose between competing thoughts, have you chosen against yourself or affirmed yourself? How would you know? Oh well, no answers. Just questions. Reply convention prohibits me from a longer response.
It is an impossible one it seems, maybe it is only impossible to answer with language , maybe it’s a feeling….
